Reporterbase.com Privacy Policy

The Reporterbase.com Privacy Policy describes how OMTI Inc., the developers of ReporterBase products and services, treats personal information (“personal information” is defined as any information that identifies or can be used to identify the person to whom such information pertains) provided when you use Reporterbase.com, a service that enables you to authorize proxies for your personal digital signature and monitor their use. Our privacy policies comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). If you have questions after reading this Privacy Policy, please contact us anytime.

Please note that the practices of OMTI Inc. and its agents (“OMTI”), with respect to data collected and used by OMTI in connection with Reporterbase.com and related products and services available or enabled via Reporterbase.com, are governed by this online privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) as amended from time to time, and not the privacy policy in effect at the time the data was collected. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those OMTI sites, products and services that do not display or link to this Privacy Policy or that have their own privacy statements. Please regularly review our Privacy Policy. If you have objections to the Privacy Policy, you should immediately discontinue use of Reporterbase.com and related products and services and follow the procedure described in the section entitled “Updating your personal information and privacy preferences.” To the extent that any terms of the Privacy Policy conflict with the terms of an existing written (including electronic) agreement between you and OMTI regarding the use of specific areas of Reporterbase.com or specific products and services (including product- and service-specific licenses, terms of use, or privacy disclosures) (collectively, “Product Agreements”), the terms of the Product Agreements shall govern.

In order to provide information and services you request, we ask you for certain kinds of personal information. When you enroll on Reporterbase.com to use our digital signature proxy service, you provide us with certain personally identifiable information, such as your name and e-mail address. You also submit a copy of your handwritten signature. To use the service, you must also designate which court reporting agencies you will permit to apply your digital signature to transcripts you provide to them. For details on how Reporterbase.com works, please refer to the RB Digital Signature Proxy Guide for Reporters.

You are in control of your information

  1. You control who is authorized to use your digital signature through Reporterbase.com. By default, you are the only user who can view and edit your personal information. If you choose to, you can share your information with others.
  2. OMTI will not sell, rent, or share your information (identified or de-identified) without your explicit consent, except in such limited situations as when OMTI believes it is required to do so by law, regulation, or litigation. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that such disclosure should be made for reasons of national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance.
  3. You can completely delete your information at any time by using the Delete Account function. Such deletions will take immediate effect in your account, and backup copies of deleted information may persist for a short time. Since deleted data will not be restored, you may want to print information before deleting it.

How Reporterbase.com uses your information

  1. To store your digital signature information in Reporterbase.com, you will need a Reporterbase.com account. When you create a Reporterbase.com account, Reporterbase.com asks for your name, email address, city, state, and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized access.
  2. OMTI’s servers automatically record log information about your use of Reporterbase.com (such as number of sign-ins and number of times a link was clicked). This information is temporarily stored in association with your Reporterbase.com account for two weeks, at which point it is aggregated with other data and is no longer associated with your account.
  3. Certain features of Reporterbase.com are used in conjunction with other ReporterBase products, and those features share information to provide services you request. For example, upon your request, Reporterbase.com provides your digital signature information in an encrypted format to court reporting firms you designate on this site to apply to transcripts through ReporterBase office management software.
  4. OMTI may communicate information to you regarding products, services, and special offers available from OMTI unless you have opted not to receive such communications or such communications are prohibited by law, although in such cases we may find it necessary to continue to communicate with you regarding your use of Reporterbase.com and related products and services.
  5. OMTI may use aggregate data to publish trend statistics and associations. None of this data can be used to personally identify an individual.

Sharing your information with people and services you trust

If you share your digital signature information with others, you can view a list of who has access to your digital signature and how they have used it. Only companies that use ReporterBase products can use your RB Digital Signature Proxy, and we recommend that you add only those court reporting firms to your list which ask you to give them your RB Digital Signature Proxy.
